History

The RAD Federation is a professional research organization providing objective research and effective systems that address the challenges facing the public and private sector decisions around the world.

RAD Federation is a dynamic and progressive research and development consulting federation. It owes its existence to the emergence of the wired knowledge-based global community. As such, it is poised on the frontlines --tracking and taking the full critical measure of all the global changes sweeping the world.

Known as E-Smiths, Inc., Research Forum in its earlier incarnation, RAD Federation exists under its currently evolving corporate structure since 2005. It is based on a concept very much in tune with the times at this juncture of our history: dispensing Expert Knowledge, Technical Assistance, Continuing Education, Distance Learning, and other general Consulting Services nationally and internationally. RAD Federation is upheld by a bold vision of things to come, and a determination of the part of the RAD Federation Executive Team and Associates to build a major federation.

RAD Federation is dedicated to the research and development of education, science, technology, digital divide, youth development, medicine, agriculture and socio-economic development, trade promotion, anti-terrorism and capacity building and to this end, RAD represents a new generation of research analysis combining expertise with technology to maximize the scope, depth and impact of research.

RAD Federation maintains a network of independent specialists drawn from industry, government, and academia and by convening an international network of experts, the RAD Federation represents the next generation of collaborative research and analysis sharing.

RAD Federation researchers believe that the powers of science, technology and education could be harnessed to promote economic growth and development and key to human rights promotion, protection, and peacekeeping.

Research and development at RAD Federation supports and enhances RAD Federation's contribution to national and international peacekeeping through research, education and training in all aspects of peacekeeping. RAD Federation is also humanitarian research activity which is committed to developing and researching innovative supplemental and informal education programs that lead to high levels of academic achievement for all communities, disseminating model programs and promising practices to inform educational practice, and working with community leaders and legislators to develop new policies to improve education at the local, national and international level.

At RAD Federation, in addition to the research and development, we are responding efficiently to the needs of regional society by strengthening our cooperation with educational- industrial institutions, and researching and developing new technologies for the welfare of humanity. We have made RAD Federation accessible, offering technical support, cooperation, and information for the region’s prosperity.

RAD Federation favors multidisciplinary, participatory research where researchers from different disciplines an economist, a medical anthropologist, a peacekeeper, a technologist, an educationist, an engineer, for example — work with local and international people to devise solutions to local and international problems. Involving beneficiaries in the research process at the outset increases the likelihood that communities will use research results.

For nearly 10 years, the RAD Federation has pursued its professional mission by conducting research on important and complicated problems. Initially, RAD (the name of which was derived from a contraction of the term research and development) focused on issues of national education. Eventually, RAD Federation expanded its intellectual reserves to offer insight into other areas, such as business, online education, health, law, science and technology.

RAD Federation goal is to become a one-stop consulting, expert knowledge, and continuing education needs. RAD provides not so much information, but knowledge, expert knowledge, applied knowledge, i.e., Knowledge that makes a difference that is really a difference.

RAD Federation's research of problem-solving continues to this day. RAD Federation conducts research and provides analysis to address challenges that face Pakistan and the world. Today, RAD Federation emphasizes several areas of research that reflect the changing nature of a global society. Much of this research is carried out on behalf of public and private sponsors and clients. RAD Federation also conducts its own RAD Federation-initiated research on issues that otherwise might not receive funding. All RAD Federation work — every publication, database, or major briefing — is held to rigorous and sometimes painstaking review processes.

RAD Federation improves policy and decisionmaking through research and analysis. At times, sponsors or clients may ask RAD Federation to deliver research without suggesting a specific course of action. At other times, RAD Federation  may provide a range of solutions with an analysis of advantages and disadvantages. On certain occasions, RAD Federation may formulate or even support clear-cut policy recommendations. What remains constant is RAD's commitment to public service by communicating its findings to a wide audience. This is accomplished in many ways. They include announcements to media, testimony by experts at RAD Federation, and publications.

Road Ahead

Anchored in Pakistan and committed to its traditional values of leadership with trust, the RAD Federation is spreading its footprint globally through excellence and innovation.

RAD Federations's each operating initiative / company develops its international business as an integral element in an overall strategy, depending on the competitive dynamics of the industry in which it operates. For some businesses a focus on the domestic Pakistani market remains the priority. For others it is developing a robust presence in neighboring markets. And then there are RAD Federation companies and initiatives, a small but growing number, that have global ambitions.

Priority markets

While RAD Federation initiatives have differing geographical imperatives, the RAD Federation is focusing on a clutch of priority countries, which are expected to be of strategic importance in the years ahead. The regions are North America, UK, China, the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Brazil, Vietnam, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
